In March 2005 Humanity For Chernobyl
visited the Makeyevka district hospital number 5 in
Donetsk. The principal of the hospital, Shadko Alexander,
explained how they lacked proper drug supplies, but
critically how little medical equipment they had. All
the Chernobyl victims that we met had warm words of
respect and gratitude towards their doctors and nurses,
but without the essential medical equipment doctors
face an uphill task to diagnose and treat Chernobyl
liquidators.
